It’s good to be back. We missed everyone last week and are excited to get back into the swing of things.
We wanted to let everyone know that we enjoyed our training at the World Championships in Little Rock, Arkansas last week. Mrs. Jouan tested for her 6th Degree Black Belt and rocked it! It will take a few weeks for the judges’ results to find out if she passed or not. Our son, Samuel, competed for the first time and won a huge Tiger medal for “best black belt attitude”. We were proud that he wanted to do it on his own. Mr. Denmark won a few matches in competition but not enough to bring home any medals this year. Still, his spirit remains undaunted and he is already looking forward to doing it again for the new season. We are very proud of him and love that he represents our school. The new season starts regionally with the New Jersey Regional Tournament on July 30th. Everyone is encouraged to attend and be a part of our tournament team 2016-2017!
This week in classes we are talking about another important aspect of discipline, self-control. What good is self-discipline if you are easily derailed from achieving your goals? Self-control is when we are able to control our actions and emotions instead of letting them rule our lives.
In classes this week we will be talking about responsibility and holding ourselves accountable for our actions and our results. One great way to tie in the ATA experience at home to get positive reinforcement beyond the mat is through our Good Habits sheets. Are you using them for your child? If not, start as soon as possible. We will have extras to hand out this week and would welcome any questions on their usage. Also, they are always available for download through the student section at ATAPennsylvania.com. The impact of these sheets will help your child improve his or her behavior and routines at home. They’re definitely worth the price of admission!
P.S. Be sure to continue to check in on Facebook every day to help with Sweat Angel’s July charitable campaign, H2OpenDoors, which donates 50 gallons of clean water for every check in!
